Because we are self-hosted, and using SMF, there are a number of mods and special features added to the site that are not found on many roleplay sites.

Shop
We have a shop where posts and number of words earns you galleons. Galleons can be redeemed for a number of special features, such as name changes, private groups, canon characters, canon surnames, inventory items, and more! Click on the "Shop" button at the top to check it out!

Custom Profiles
You can write your profile within your forum profile, as well as in the Character Bin forum. Click on "Profile" at the top, then "Modify Profile", and then "Forum Profile". You can added your character appearance, history, family, and other things to your forum profile. BBCode is allowed in longer entries.

Sub-account Mod
Sub-accounts allows you to create alts and post as them without ever leaving your main account. You just use the drop-down box where your name is in the reply post area to switch to the alt you wish to use. To create sub-accounts, go to "Profile" at the top of the page, then to "Modify Profile". You should see a heading for "Manage Subaccounts". Go to that, and you can create or link your accounts. To link accounts, you will have to know your password for the linked account. Right now, the switch account to edit your profile only works on the default H:OS theme (Chocolate Curvacious) and the Curve theme. The drop-down box will be at the top by your avatar. If you don't see it, click the down arrow at the top right.

House Points System
I have set up a reputation system whereby we will be assigning house points! Underneath a member's avatar will be a link to "Add Reputation". Click that, and a little box will pop up at the top of your thread. Add your point with "I agree", a comment if you wish, and click "Submit".

HOWEVER....it has some catches to it. You can only give 1 point to someone each day, and you have to give points to 5 other people before you can give a point to that person again. The only people that can take points away are admins, mods, and professors. I will ask the professors to take away points for IC reasons only, and no more than 5 points at a time. This is NOT a warning system. You are not in trouble with the staff if you get negative reputation from them. We do have a separate warning system, and if you get an official warning, you will also get a pm about the issue.

What we are looking for regarding house points is simple. We want really entertaining roleplay posts! Doesn't matter if they are long or short, or have perfect grammar or not. The key is if they make you laugh, touch you, or inspire you. Entertain us, and we will reward you!

Dice Roller
We will use a dice roller in Quidditch games. To use the dice roller click on the Dice Roll button above the post, and inside the tags you put 1d4, 1d6, 1d8, 1d10, or 1d20. So the code looks something like this (without the spaces):

Tagging System
Up in the top menu is an item "Tag", which is our site tagging system and cloud. The tagging system lets us tag topics for different things. Primarily, if you can remember, try to at least tag 'open' threads, so they are easy to find. You can also tag for houses or groups, and for special plot themes.

Videos
You can just post videos by posting the direct link URL to the reply box. There is a mod that does all the coding for you to put the actual video in the post.

Multiple Themes
We do have multiple themes installed, including a theme for mobile phone use. To switch themes, use the Look and Layout section of your profile. The theme will be listed at the top, with a link to "Change".
